Ozark, Arkansas | we've never had any real problems with the bettle's, they keep changing the story about what the problems could be. bio-security bugs outside and inside.
we have went to a 10 week turn around, so we have time to clean the brooder houses out and let them air dry real good, most of the growers are on a shorter turn 8 to 9 weeks, seems like the extra time drying out has helped our flocks as much as anything. we've been here long enough to have the farm paid down quite a bit, so we don't hurry getting the next flock. in the 10 years we've been here we've sent in birds better than average about 8 years, we use to have 130 growers when we moved here now we have about 60, a lot of the older growers just got out. now we're some of the old timers around here.
we cake out our growout houses each time, then top them off with the shavings from the brooder houses, after they have sat in our shavings barn for about 10 weeks.
we always use kiln dried wood shavings and dry rice hulls in our brooder houses. Butterball pays for all our shavings. | |
