Cost saving. Our area has an average durum yield of 20 Bu/ac or so. If we use fertilizer, we lose a substantial amount of money per acre. You can only do that for so long.

I don't like summerfallow, but what else can we do where we don't lose money.

Also, I mean that the carbide openers on our Bourgault 5710 pretty much scraped across without penetrating.
