Subject: RE: Honest opinion on row cleaners

Thumb of Michigan
We tried a couple of different row cleaners in n/t on some of our practice row set ups. . Took them off after a couple of years. In our soils, soil crusting is directly related to the amount of residue on the surface. That "correct" amount can be a real fine line, and we were more consistently correct with coulters than we ever were with row cleaners. If we could have held them perfectly so we only moved part of the residue, probably would have been OK. Now, row cleaners on the back in place of the v wheels was a lot better deal for us. Nothing against them on the back. Not real impressed with them on the front end.

May end up in trouble for this, but we've never ever ever never found anything Yetter built to be heavy enough. Period. Don't waste your money or time on them. Martin and Dawn are well built and designed, I'd stick with either of those if you do go with row cleaners. If you go with coulters, Rawsons are unbeatable. Nothing else comes close.
