GET THEM ON. We prefer the fixed. Yeah they may gouge, but only if there is a sharp mound. They will eat into a pile of residue as well which is crucial to get the seed in the ground. When there is nothing for them to do, they don't do anything. The floaters(although I've never used them) seem like they would ride up on a residue pile or throw soil if there was no residue. JMO
