standard push type floating row cleaners in my opinion have their place if you usually notill into a firm surface such as notilling corn into bean stubble. push type row cleaners must float, in my opinion, because they are 3 feet or so ahead of where we are gaging the soil profile. in any sort of worked or variable ground i prefer a fixed but easily adjustable row cleaner located back as close to the row unit gage wheels as possible. unit mounted fixed cleaners close to the gage wheels leave a consistent depth from the bottom of the row cleaner teeth to the bottom of the vee opener. the gfx combines the best features of both types along with in cab control of down force or lift them completely at a mud hole. jmho. jim at dawn |
