Subject: Coyotes

perryton, tx
Coyotes seem to be thick and hungry around here lately. I have never lost a calf to one but i am worried. The guy who lives across from my cow pasture called me last nite and said he saw at least 6 of them out there. There was a report on the news a little while back about them coming into town and getting peoples cats, so i know they are pretty bold. Everything seemed to be fine this morning, all the calves accounted for-even a newborn that was born during the nite. As i said, this is something that i've never really dealt with so my question is if a good healthy calf is really in any danger from these critters? A friend of mine told me that if you lose one its because the cow is a poor mother-took that with a grain of salt. Thanks.
