Subject: RE: What would you do if billed over $2000 for electric pole replacement ??

Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa

Husband snagged a guide wire on a pole while mowing pastures a couple of years ago.  Didn't take the pole down, just snapped the top of the pole and the wires were holding up the top piece.  Nothing came down, power was never interupted.

He called the power company to report it, and it was repaired a week or 10 days later.

About a month later, we received (and handed over to our insurance agent) a bill showing every itemized nut and bolt to replace the damaged pole.  They billed for 3 trucks, man hours for 6 workers, a new guide wire, new insulators, hardware, connectors and sales tax.   $2,480.++

Except.........to this day there is no guide wire on the new pole.

Insurance agent took a look at the bill, shook his head, and forwarded it on to the company for payment.
