| In regards to shrink, the moisture discounts would be higher if corn were say $5 per bushel. There would obviously be a higher cost/point for shrink. That is why I said it is irrelevant. I'm looking at elevator vs. home drying costs. An ADM representative told me that they are getting killed on FM and test weight.
I ran some numbers and talked to someone with a similar dryer and setup. It looks like we should be able to dry corn for 1.5-2 cents per point. That makes me feel even better.
No matter how you run the numbers, this is not the year to plan to haul in wet corn. | |
