You are allowed 3% FM before discount. 1.4% shrink on 30% corn vs 1.2% amounts to 3% per bu.. $4 corn would equal an extra 12 cents bu for Fm discount. Could deliver 7% FM corn and still be money ahead.
A dryer pays in more ways than one. Allows an earlier start on harvest, so a person can finish harvest sooner and do something productive like putting in tile. Have got ground that is going to end up costing me $200 to $500 an acre per year the last 2 years by not having it tiled. Would help pay for a dryer pretty quick.
