If you could get one to spin over fast in cold weather maybe just maybe it might make a good auger tractor.


That’s funny, my Oliver 1600 will start any day of the year as long as the battery is good. I can remember exactly once it wouldn’t start, and that was because the battery cable came a bit loose and melted off. To be fair it was -30°C that day. Pair of vise grips and back in business. 15W40 oil too. It’s been here since sometime in the 70’s. I see everyone complain about poor gas and you need electronic ignition now, I call BS. That Oliver with old gas with 10% ethanol and regular points ign starts every time no matter what. I’d bet money on it.

Price of gas be damned it’s still my go to around the yard/auger/mower/land roller tractor.[/QUOTE Agree 110% on starting,but i might have u beat a little,Oliver 88 gas i have will start in -30 c not plugged in ,15/40 oil and only 6 volt and starts fine,lol
