To be fair it was -30°C that day. Pair of vise grips and back in business. 15W40 oil too.


15W-40 oil at minus 30? You're kidding, right?


No. We do it. Two Oliver gas tractors, on rakes in summer, plus other duties, backup generators in winter. Because I know they will start when needed.

The oil must be like thick grease at those temperatures. I wonder how long it goes without oil pressure when first fired off?

15W-40 is recommended for no lower than 15 degrees above.


Nope, not kidding. Oil pressure gauge comes up as quick in the winter as the summer. 10k hours and never had a problem yet. Pickup (6.7 Cummins), semi and everything else has 15w40 year round and gets started in the winter, no reason this tractor will be any different.
