Subject: RE: Wood burning fire places?

Need to plan ahead and design the floorplan so it is somewhat centrally located in the living area and yet have a short distance to bring wood in and be able to have some in the house somewhere ahead of time, a porch or 3 season room or something like that, we have a glass front parlor stove in a walk out basement, that works real well for us. We burn 12-16 face cord a year probably and 150 gallons of propane a year. We come in form outside and if clothes are wet they dry quickly and if go back out say after dinner if they are not dry they are at least warm and damp, not cold and wet. Keep a 3-4 month supply of wood in the garage, same level so handy. have a 120 foot loop of 1 inch PVC on the ceiling for a pre heater going to the water heater with a check valve so it does not feed back into the cold side, saves 15-20 dollars a month on the electricity bill . We have a plastic water heater so do not cook with the hot water, just does not seem like a real good idea anyway.
