Starbuck Manitoba Canada
We put in a Vermont Castings fireplace when we built 30 years ago. Just recently spent a couple grand replacing a few parts. We love having it. It's quite efficient.
One of the best things we did was to install a small exterior door (2'X4') on the back of the house that opened to the wood storage box on the inside beside the fire place. It lets us avoid dragging the wood through the house. The fire storage box is about 32 inches wide and 5 feet tall, and holds enough wood to last almost a week. The back deck area is our storage for about a cord of wood. We have a fire ever day throughout the winter. Best form of heat there is IMHO.
