Southern IL | We love ours, just makes some mess when bringing on wood and cleaning up the ashes but not terribly bad. It has glass doors and a blower, only use it when it's really cold out or it will run you out of the living room. Be sure and only use seasoned wood and brush out flu regularly. No smoke smell or anything like that
