So, I had a thread a week or so ago about May ST310 not going in gear. I’ve adjusted the clutch clockwise(if sitting in the seat) 3 notches at a time, 3 times and still won’t go in gear. Am I perhaps going to wrong way? Master cylinder is good but slave cylinder I haven’t changed. All lines are bled of air. What next?
The 310 has the same clutch as a heavy (semi) truck. When adjusted correctly, pushing the clutch all the way to the floor will cause the transmission brake to stop the trans gears from rotating. Once the trans stops turning, let up just a bit on the clutch to release the trans brake so the trans can rotate slightly to allow going into gear.
Letting up a bit on the clutch to allow going into gear is important with that style of clutch, and how well it works depends on careful adjustment of the clutch and trans brake condition and wear. Improper clutch /brake adjustment will give you little to no space between when the trans brake releases and where the engine clutch starts to engage, making it very difficult to shift in / out of gear.
