Capitalism doesn't always work. Do you really think that we would have rural electrification if it was not for the government? I can't imagine the ROI of running power to some of these remote locations (talking to you fellas out west of the Missouri River). How much does it cost to run a power line one mile? When neighbors are 10 of miles apart. Sure getting it into the service is one thing, but then you have the maintenance aspect as well.

I think if it were true capitalism, a large majority of rural areas would be 100% self sufficient because the cost of power would be prohibitive unless you happened to be within an earshot of the line running from town to town.

While what you say is true, it avoids the subject of a Democrat “green” agenda requiring a switch of how we power things just so they can feel better about themselves. Global warming didn’t last very long until they had to switch to climate change.
So now who could possibly argue that climates change. It’s clever for the simple minded I guess but not very scientific. They have to sell their anti internal combustion engine and “too many people” agenda and are successfully doing just that. Watched any news lately….dems are on a green push! That’s how you tell what dems are planning btw….just watch the news.
Propaganda first, then implementation.
