SW MN | Capitalism doesn't always work. Do you really think that we would have rural electrification if it was not for the government? I can't imagine the ROI of running power to some of these remote locations (talking to you fellas out west of the Missouri River). How much does it cost to run a power line one mile? When neighbors are 10 of miles apart. Sure getting it into the service is one thing, but then you have the maintenance aspect as well.
I think if it were true capitalism, a large majority of rural areas would be 100% self sufficient because the cost of power would be prohibitive unless you happened to be within an earshot of the line running from town to town. | |
