Northwest Iowa | I've had both shoulders fixed. Both injured from falls but different muscles, tendons, etc involved. Right shoulder 9 years ago. I couldn't extend my had for hand shakes. Left was last year about this time, couldn't raise it above my head. Both fixed by the same Dr at Mayo in Rochester. Both good results and probably 80%+ strength of before. Left likely a little better than the right. No pain after the first 2 weeks. Pain killers didn't work for me but Tylenol extra strength did. Can't throw a ball overhand but that is no big deal. Right shoulder therapy was tougher as they reattached different muscles to fill in. I tried a different orthopedist first but he started talking about only 35% strength and that I would really have to behave myself. That wasn't very appealing. Mayo guy had no restrictions after therapy. Good luck. | |
