However your sentiment is correct that the unions have killed American manufacturing right along with government regulations. Texas has seen an increase in manufacturing in the last decade due to our relatively lax regulations and general lack of unions.
Taxes play a large role in that too. Taxes in the south are much cheaper than the north-east where I am.
