Subject: RE: ? About church finances credit card for expenses

I just got off my term as deacon at our church. We had an office credit card and our youth pastor had a card. The office card was used wisely. The youth pastor card not so much. We ended up giving him a debit card and depositing his monthly allotment in his account on the first day of the month. That took care of the over spending issues. I would not like the thought of the treasurer reimbursing himself. Whatever you do make sure there is multiple levels of accountability. We also made changes at our bank account requiring the signature of two deacons who were tied to the account for any check written over $2500. We also have a rule that purchases over $250, outside of our normal operating expenses have to be approved by the deacons before the purchase. The clearer the expectations are made the less likely there will be hard feelings.
