A good post with good points.
As you note many things just happen and believers often claim all good things to be the work of their god
However few will also claim the bad things in their life as being the fault of their god.
That selective credit gives them a perception that their god is looking out for them.
Also any time something is hard to explain many believers use what has been referred to as the 'god of the gaps'
When a good explanation can not be found then 'god' is said to have done it.
Looking back through history you see how those gaps often get filled by good explanations and so the 'god' explanation has to be removed and maybe moved on to the next gap in understanding
Bad things that happen isn't from God. That would be ol Satan himself causing anything that's bad. God is all that is good and light. Satan is all that is bad and dark. |
