Missouri river bottom south of Sioux City, IA | Been using 32% for over 25 years and before that used NH3 in the fall but had issues when soil was too dry or too wet. About 80% of the time that is the conditions we have in the fall. In the spring it’s normally too wet. With 32% you can spoon feed the crop. I put some down with the herbicide broadcasted after planting. Then side dress in early June and finish off just before tassel applying it on with the center pivot. The only hassle with using 32% when side dressing is the amount of product you need to handle. Got that figured out with 1000 gallons on the tractor and 1,600 gallons on pull behind tank.
I added Y drops last year where I can use them in combination with the coulters or use just Y drops or just the coulters. This year got the 32% for 35 cents a pound. I have not compare NH3 to 32% but have seen yields between 250 to 285 using 32%.
