Subject: RE: who grows corn without using NH3?

Bluford, Illinois
I see NH3 slowly fading out as there are usually fatal accidents every year. It’s not worth the liability and the risk in my personal opinion. I know we used to use it, and saved $15-$20 acre. But, I just don’t think the savings are there anymore, so I doubt we ever go back to AA. If we were putting all N out upfront, I’d use NH3, not liquid. But most of our upfront N comes from Dap, and later come back and give a shot of liquid. I don’t see the yield differences as much in side dress applications. It also depends on if you run in at planting.
