Leesburg, Ohio | Why is it not a fair comparison? A strip with starter or popup next to a strip without? Not saying it would be a statistically sound research design, but I don’t see anything “unfair” about it.
I did comparisons for 25 years, both intentional, and accidental by running out of starter. Never could prove a consistent advantage to starter, even though the strips without starter had less total fertilizer applied than the strips with starter. So I was always giving an unfair advantage to the starter applied side. No starter still was usually the same, sometimes better than the starter areas.
Not trying to convince anyone to change anything, just saying what I observed. | |
