I don’t know if you would get the residue chopped as fine when you use a VT tool or high speed disc. The problem I was having this year in non chopped stalks was that the guards would spear the stalk and plug the cutter bar up and/or pick up dirt along with the root balls at times. The chopped ground did break up faster and I’m sure some of it blew away as well.
