upstate ny | Deere had 2 cylinder gas engines down pat. But they clung too long and totally missed the boat on 4 and 6 cylinder gas engines. Never made one worth a damn. Great grandfather bought a 3010 gas new in 1960. First new gen deere in the area. This farm got a lot of use from it, but I've always been told the gas engine was finicky. It had 18000 hours in 1997 when dad finally put a diesel in it. Over 25000 hours now, but doesnt do much anymore aside from run auger and post pounder. First combine i ever ran was a 1974 IH 715 with the c301 gas engine. That thing fired up every single time, hot or cold, and ran wide open all day without ever skipping a beat. | |
