| Owned four of them, a pair of 220’s, a 7045 and a 7080. Each and every one spun a crank bearing before 2500 hours. The 220’s ran on the warm side of things all the time, the brakes royally sucked, and didn’t exactly shift the very best. The 7045 with power shift twisted the drive shaft off twice when attempting to back the planter up without shifting into low range first. Never could figure that one out, then the engine locked up tight while plowing at 2200 hours. Crank bearings seized up. Same thing happened on the 7080 while plowing. The power director transmission has to win the Darwin Award for all time dumbest shifting design. And after all that, I still have a sweet spot in my heart for old Allis’s. Just would quit if I had to farm with them again. Edit too add; Notice when I chose an Allis to restore for old times sake, it has a 301 turbo? IMO, the sweetest sounding tractor ever made, short of maybe a Perkins V8.
