The 560 was released the same year as the 730 deere. Neither were technological marvels. The fact deere won the race towards a newly designed tractor by 2 years is pretty astonishing.
The 30 series was only a stop-gap offering. It wasn't intended to be revolutionary. JD was working with multi-cylinder tractors in the early 50's, and was really getting serious about them when the 20 series was introduced. They had initially intended to introduce the new generation in '58 or '59, but that wasn't happening, so they slapped some pretty new sheet metal on the existing tractors and pushed them out the door. |
