Mid MO | There is very little zoning here. Basically, if you have 5 acres, you can do anything you please.
My brother built a shouse. It is timber frame construction. He cut and milled the logs himself. The front half of the house is a large 2 story shop, with a shop bathroom and several large doors. The back of the building is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. The floors are concrete with heat and heated with an outdoor wood furnace. There are lots of windows in the home portion and sliding glass doors on the living room. They added a back patio this spring.
Lots of folks build shouses around here. More permanent than a trailer but still affordable.
Family needs change, there comes a time when a large house is more of a burden than an asset. If you are unwilling to move and grown kids don't live close; a large house is just something for little old folks to rattle.around in. | |
