Wisconsin
I started from scratch in 2008 at 30 yrs. old. I farmed a 35 acre piece of land that my wife and I had bought a few years earlier. I started with a 1971 JD4620 and an 18' field cultivator and rented the other equipment that I needed. Since then I have been able to pick up a few more pieces of rental ground and have been able to add at least 1 piece of equipment each year. Growing vegetables on some of the acres has helped grow capital and networking (farmers markets and roadside stands). My wife and I both work full time, off farm jobs (while raising 2 young boys.) We are currently working on purchasing the farm that adjoins our land. Patience has been the most difficult thing. An understanding wife has been priceless!
