Subject: Have you gotten rid of the "hard-wired" home phone?

Chebanse, IL.....

Has anyone here totally canned their wired home phone in favor of cell phone for farmsite usage? It looks like one of the shortcomings is not having your name/# in the phone book for locals to contact. I realize it's that same book that allows all the bogus calls to come in. Also, not sure how cells work here on 911 calls. That might be a comforting feature on hard-wired phones. If you're hurt, if someone just punches 911 on your hard-wired phone, that'll get the ball rolling....assuming your hard-wired phone works all the time.

So, if you done away w/the hard-wired phone in favor of cellular, what have been the results? Is anyone sorry they did it?

Thanks
