| Our direct TV is not hooked to a phone, never has been. When the installer set it up we just told them we did not have a land line and only used cells. Can't order movies with the touch button, but I also didn't want them spying on what I was watching and selling the info. They also use it as a way to make sure all of your receivers are in the same house so you don't get an extra reciver and put it in your Dads house or a Lake House. I'd unhook it and just tell them you canceled the phone line and don't have one anymore.
As for us we've not used a landline for a typical phone for over 3 years. Rely totally on cells. Never was home much to use it so I just quit giving it out. We've still got one, goes straight to the fax and we're on dsl so we have to keep it going for that, but we never answer it. Amazing how many junk phone calls come in, but the fax machine doesn't mind answering them. | |
