NESD | Growing up in western SD I always heard that North and South Dakota should never have been split north and south, should have been split East and West, Never understood that until I moved to the east side of the river, didn't take very long to come to the conclusion that simply crossing the Missouri River bridge you were either stepping ahead 15 years going east and stepping back by 15 years going west, When I left the west river side I went to work for a JD dealer as a service tech, the equipment was current model east river and west river was running the trade-ins from the east river farmers, The spread in years has narrowed but it is still 5 to 7 years on average. All in all growing up on the ranch was a great but it was a definitely tougher lifestyle. |
