I'm with you so far JR.

There are varieties I'm comfortable with in my area for the rotation that I'm comfortable with. Being comfortable does not mean I'm not interested in trying and learning new things. It just means I know I've got a shot at success with a formula I've used before.

Therefore I'm buying Pioneer 0157 and 0339. Yes I'm throwing some other varieties into the mix but even my cheapest stuff is $170 a bag or so. I just don't feel like I can safely do GMO when I'm running corn on corn.

In regards to the tax savings, let's say that you'll be paying 35% and the lowest you would ever possibly pay in the future on that income is 15% so really I would say you're losing 20% at the most. Still pretty sizeable amount if a guy really were in the 35% bracket. I've managed to stay below 25% even in the great years without doing anything too crazy though.
