Tiling rented land,how do you convince the landlord?

For me, if there are mains installed prior, $250 an acre will pattern tile a farm on 80' centers. Here, that's probably a good spacing for a rented farm. I did 40' personally on ground I own. But I'm 31 years old and felt like I had at least 30 years of farming it to get the good out of it.

I hated to even post the idea of skipping fertilizer apps, but I believe in 5 years I'll see more bushels of corn from 80' pattern tile spacing here then from $250 worth of Phosphorous and Potash. That tile will be there forever. As far as landlords go you usually can tell after a couple years if you'll be on it for a while or not. Getting a land lord to do some sort of 10 year depreciation and buyback is a good idea to try for. I did not try that on my trial run on my small farm I talked about tho.
