| Just talk with him, asking him what he would like to do, and tell him what you wrote, that you don't have tasks in your current job you think he is age to perform. Maybe it's not just jobs that he means, but things that open the mind or bind the family. Have a board or card games night once a week, find good movies or books and get them from the library. Adults know lots of stuff that we don't even think about sharing, so don't worry, there's plenty to keep that bored son busy, like the suggestions above. Be glad that he is curious and willing to discover new things, at 12, he is still in the learning process. Make him discover new sports or activities, I never would have thought windsailing was so great if I hadn't been thrown at it first. But teach your son to get "unbored" by himself too, he should be able to initiate things too. If the "boring" part comes from the fact that he is the only kid in a remote farm, encourage social activities and sports, have some sleep-overs with his friends, etc. Hey, at 12, maybe you should start having the sex talks too and demystify these things so he can go on living his kid life without worrying about them. There's something that should unbore him... ;) | |
