I'm not going to pretend to know the in's and out's of your job, but it would seem pretty simple to me. If your company can be profitable at 4 dollar corn and I'm willing to sell you corn for 4 dollars cash why not both of us lock that in and your company can lock in a sale of its final product at the profitable level. If it happens that way, why the need for futures market?

I enjoy your reading your post and what you bring to the table, but most of what I get from you is sell forward, sell forward, sell forward. Do you ever spot price your own grain or is it all forward contracted trying to capture the market carry when it exists? Do you have any unpriced bushels currently? I've always just kept things pretty simple, discovery a price where I can make a comfortable profit and place sell orders at those levels. Sometimes they hit sometimes they don't. When the market gets to a point where I'm profitable at my lowest yield in 10 years I forward sell.
