I have farmed for better then 40 years, some have been pretty slim, some have been pretty good.
We have always ate well, had a comfortable house to live in, raised three boys that have blessed us with four grandchildren and still enjoy it.
Never was guaranteed a profit, but we made some changes in the way we farm which has helped.
I guess what I am saying is if it isn't working for you, change some things to make it work.
