An employee is guaranteed a wage because he is surrendering his time in exchange for compensation. The compensation is based on the market value of his effort and skill.
A business owner is not guaranteed anything. It is his responsibility to make sure there is a market for his goods and or services, and that he can operate profitably in that market.
