Many small businesses in town don't make squat either. Think restaurant and convenience store. Not everyone has a great job. People farm because it beats a real job and there is nothing else to do. Most farmers make their money on land speculation, however that will not be happening in the future as we enter deflation. A sale and rent back arrangement is likely the best way of taking advantage of that.
