Texas/New Mexico Stateline | I just hate that when I try to reign in everybody, they make me out to be a Scrooge. But with our kids I have tried to explain the more junk you give them the less they appreciate it. If you want them to appreciate what you give them, they need to have less junk.
Our kids have 3 great grandparents still alive, and both sets of grandparents. Along with single aunts and uncles that all feel like they need to get the kids presents. I have told them repeatedly they don't need to get the kids gifts, but it always falls on deaf ears.
Few years ago I laid down the law and told everybody they could get "ONE gift for each child" and anything extra would be returned. Again I end up being made out to be Scrooge. It worked for a couple years for the most part, but I feel like this year everybody will be bending the rule a little.
