Eastern Nebraska | Medication is not always the answer.... structure ... consistency... discipline... patience ... those are a very big part of it... The consequences have to be ones that they understand... spanking is not always one of them.... Yes I have spanked my kids ... I have a variety of consequences for inappropriate behaviors.... The consequences must fit the "crime"... My son is 11 and you would not know that he has ADHD and aspergers.... he is smart and well mannered and active and involved like most kids.... I know a lot of kids not on ritalin and that do not have attention or other issues to deal with that I am very glad they are not mine.... My son does take meds during the school year mainly so that he can concentrate and learn.... There are times when medication is needed... it should be kept to a minimum dosage.... You are very right Frytownfarmer in keeping them physically busy and using up that excess energy is an everyday thing and very good.... It wears on the parents and for sure is not for lazy parents with a child with attention issues... It child is different and responds differently .... | |
