NW IA | I have never had this happen in the ten years or so that I’ve had this planter.
The lead gauge wheel will fill up and stick in the highest position and start pushing trash.
Could it just be too dry?
I tried removing a shim and running the wheel tighter against the opening disc and it didn’t help.
I lowered the row cleaners to move more trash and some soil out of the way and it improved a lot, but didn’t stop it entirely.
It is very dry and it seems like the stalks are like broomsticks. The trash that builds up in front of the row cleaners when the gauge wheel stops is fluff with no dirt in it.
Just wondering if my problem is due to conditions, or if maybe my gauge wheels may be more worn than I think and that’s what is letting them fill with dirt.
Thanks for any input.
