I blame it on trash getting between the gauge wheel and the closer disc but I don’t know for sure. Case IH has good design here but they should stager everything the same. If the lead disk is left side the gauge wheel and closer should all be left leading. It’s always the close rows.

I discovered this flaw about ten years ago. I thought it would be a brilliant idea to take my 6 row 900 and buy three 955/1200 unit castings. The side I rebuilt and everything was new the first mud hole I went through that side was instantly all plugged with mud, the stock wore out side was clean and was working perfectly. That was when I discovered that the new opposite leading castings are not mirror images of the other side. Then upon further dectective work, CIH band aided the issue with slight changes in length of gauge wheel arms. I could go into more detail but why they didn’t make exact mirror image units I have no idea. |
