With number portability, there's really no way to go back to non-10-digit dialing.
The days of dialing the last four digits and getting connected on Stromberg-Carlson mechanical switches are over...
I worked for ATT, the local exchange where I live was the ONLY Stromberg Carlson switch in my work area and about the last to convert to ESS. Im retired, and still hooked to the copper (free service-benefit) but I have to pay the $12 taxes/month. Seriously thinking of porting to cell.
