| Are you ready for 12 digit dialling? An expansion of the area codes to 5 digits.
Or Canada ought to be its own international dialling code area, the only significant country in the world currently without one. This would put the US running-out-of-numbers problem into temporary reprieve (Canadian area codes now available to US) and vastly increase numbers for Canada (no changing of numbers nor would 5 digit area codes be necessary). Just the inconvenience of dialling across border)
Canada to US would be "011 + 1 + (10 digits, eventually 12)"
US to Canada would be "011 + (3 digit country code for Canada) + (10 digits)" | |
