It is interesting ones perspective.
I was talking to my wife about buying groceries when I was a kid and what we would buy. I commented that other than salt,flour, sugar and canning supplies., we didn't buy much. If we did us kids used our own money.
My wife took it we were poor and my folks were tight.
My folks were frugal but we had beef cows, milk cows, rabbits, hogs and chickens. We canned carp a year or 2 also. We also had a big garden, rhubarb, and an orchard, We also had walnut trees and trees with acorns.
We just didn't need much sore bought stuff. Mom made cheese, cottage cheese, ice cream and soap.
