Subject: RE: Fox

We installed a valve on JD 8420 several years ago and had similar issues. The customer swore that his tractor had power beyond (but also claimed he never really used it). After investigating further we opened up the power beyond and discovered that it was missing a "load sense bleed orifice". The missing part was about the size of a small dime with a tiny hole in it. A trip to local JD dealer and ~$15 later and everything worked fine.

See attached PDF for power beyond install diagrams.

There is a detach case from John Deere that discusses the problem as well (shown below).

Solution Number: 67940

Solution Summary: Load Sense Pressure Will Not Build in Power Beyond or Top SCV Valve

Publication Date: Apr 8 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**Paper copies of solutions may not be the most current solutions**

Complaint or Symptom :
• Cannot build load sense pressure in Power beyond or Top SCV valve.

• When dead heading top SCV, secondary hydraulic pump will not go to high standby pressure after installing power beyond kit.

• Unable to get correct pressure to operate implement connected to power beyond.

Problem or Situation :
• Jam nut on RE49091 straight adjustable connector allows connector to be installed too far in LS port on SCV end cover, when installing power beyond kit. When RE49091 is installed too far in LS port it drives RE58763 (short) or RE213458 (long) spacer down on top of R196840 load sense shuttle disk (dime valve) and no load sense signal is sent to secondary hydraulic pump.

• Improper spacer was used when installing power beyond kit. If incorrect spacer is used when installing power beyond kit, load shuttle disk will not seat correctly against spacer causing leak in load sense circuit.

• Load shuttle disk (dime valve) missing between top SCV and power beyond spacer located in SCV end cover.

• Load sense bleed orifice disk for power beyond kit was not installed in RE215402 load sense bleed hose going to T port on end cover.

Solution :
• Inspect RE49091 straight adjustable connector, RE58763 (short) or RE213458 (long) spacer, and R196840 load shuttle disk. Reinstalled load shuttle disk, correct spacer and start threading RE49091 connector into end cover until it just starts to contact spacer, then tighten down jam nut to secure connector. Oring on connector will prevent oil from leaking out around connector.

Use RE58763 (short spacer) for 8000 wheel, 8000 TEN wheel and track and 8020 wheel and track with standard V1 top end cover.

Use RE213458 (long spacer) for 8020 wheel and track with standard V2 top end cover and standard V3 top end cover with relief valve.

• Install load shuttle disk between top SCV and power beyond spacer in SCV end cover.

• Install load sense bleed orifice in RE215402 load sense bleed hose connecting to T port.

Note: Reference AR194468 Field Installed Instructions for installation information for power beyond.
