Jefferson, SD | I did an interesting observation a few years ago. Was trying to figure out the temp rise I would need for a tankless waterheater. Apparently municipal incoming water is much warmer than my long distance rural water by like 15-20 degrees. I did a faucet test every week and measured the cold water temp. I did this two years in a row from January-mid April. Both years I did it, the water temp got progressively colder into April even though March was warm enough to pull frost out of the top of the ground and the surface was warm enough to plant corn. Once the decline stopped, it went up fast. I had always figured the frost layer worked upward but my water test messes with that theory. | |
