Overwhelming evidence would be “will help,” or “does help.” By now, if there was truly overwhelming evidence that masks help, the average Joe on the street (and I’d put myself in that category) should be able to see that masks truly do work. As an example, there’d be NO cases in nursing homes seeing as they were locked down as tight as anything. They still have experienced cases of Covid-19.
Edit: If someone said that “it may not kill you” to jump off the roof of a 39 story building, would you consider that overwhelming evidence that it won’t kill you? And this has happened, so his statement would technically be true...
